It has just been announced that The Heart Shopping Centre in Walton-Upon-Thames has achieved a RoSPA Gold award for Health & Safety Performance for the second year running.
RoSPA is the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, whose mission is to save lives and prevent accidents and lead the way in accident prevention. The awards were set up to recognise and celebrate excellent standards of Health and Safety across the UK.
The awards are non-competitive and are based on the centre’s individual health and safety performance, assessed against the judging criteria. Entrants are required to answer key performance questions and provide supporting evidence to prove a good health and safety management system. The centre was assessed on their performance for the period from 1st January to 31st December 2016. This year’s award compliments the Gold Award received last year.
Achievement awards are made at the levels of Merit, Bronze, Silver and Gold, followed by Gold Medal (5-9 consecutive Gold Awards), President's Award (10-14 consecutive Gold Awards) and Order of Distinction (15+ consecutive Gold Awards). So The Heart is performing strongly and well on their way to achieving a Gold Medal.
By way of previous awards, The Heart won Green Apple Awards and Zero Waste Awards in 2012, 2013 and 2014 and was featured in two industry leading Sceptre Award nominations in 2014. They also received the prestigious Green World Ambassador Award through The Green Organisation in 2015. This year’s win further endorses the hard work of the shopping centre management team.
Mark Middleton, Centre Manager at The Heart says, “We are thrilled to have achieved the Gold Award for Health and Safety for the second year running. Providing a safe and pleasant environment to shop and dine in the heart of town is at the forefront of what we stand for at The Heart. I’m really proud and now have my sights set on winning a President's Award in the future.”
